Dorothy Capers

Dorothy Capers’ work focuses on corporate law, governance, compliance and business transformation. She currently serves as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of C.H. Robinson, where she works closely with senior leadership and the Board of Directors and helps advance the company’s commitment to compliance, ethics and integrity. Dorothy brings extensive experience advising global businesses on complex commercial, regulatory and governance matters.

Prior to joining C.H. Robinson in 2025, Dorothy served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Xylem, a Fortune 500 water technology company. She previously served as Global General Counsel at National Express, where her responsibilities spanned mergers and acquisitions, commercial and regulatory matters and litigation. Earlier in her career, Dorothy was Associate General Counsel at US Foods and helped support the company through its proposed merger with Sysco. She also built significant litigation experience in both private practice and government, including serving as a Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago and as a prosecutor with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Beyond her corporate leadership, Dorothy serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago State University Foundation, reflecting a longstanding commitment to higher education and community service.

Dorothy earned her J.D. from Howard University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her career has taken her from public-sector litigation in Chicago to the senior legal ranks of major global companies, establishing her as an experienced legal and business leader across the transportation, distribution and technology sectors.
