Jaila Carter

Jaila Carter, Esq. is an attorney and advocate whose work focuses on consumer protection, financial empowerment and expanding access to justice. She currently serves as an Associate Attorney with Denbeaux & Denbeaux, a New Jersey-based law firm, where she advocates for homeowners facing foreclosure and financial hardship. Her legal experience also spans consumer bankruptcy and civil litigation, including helping individuals navigate overwhelming debt, understand their legal options and pursue greater financial stability.

A proud graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., Carter earned her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston. Her commitment to advocacy, however, began before she entered the legal profession. As an AmeriCorps College Access Coach serving students in Atlanta Public Schools, she helped young people navigate pathways to higher education—an early experience that established service as a defining thread throughout her career.

Carter continues that commitment through leadership in both the legal profession and her community. She serves as Public Education Liaison for the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, volunteers as a mediator with the Dispute Resolution Center in Harris County and serves as Co-Chair of the Howard University Alumni Club of Atlanta Scholarship Committee.

Whether helping individuals protect their homes and rebuild financially or expanding access to legal education and supporting the next generation of students, Carter has built her career around using the law as a tool for advocacy and empowerment. Her work reflects a belief that meaningful advocacy extends beyond the courtroom and that service remains one of the most powerful ways to create lasting impact.
