Aaron Greene

Aaron Greene is a movement lawyer, organizer, and strategist whose work advances participatory democracy, racial justice, and community led power building across the South and beyond. His career sits at the intersection of legal advocacy, grassroots organizing, policy reform, and political strategy, grounded in deep partnerships with directly impacted communities.

Aaron currently serves as Legal and Policy Manager with the Southern Movement Committee, an organization dedicated to organizing and building power across the U.S. South for racial justice and human rights. Previously, as Associate Counsel at the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, he helped advance major reforms, including restoring voting rights to more than 83,000 people on probation and parole, ending prison based gerrymandering, expanding early voting, and coordinating New Jersey’s first Souls to the Polls initiative. He also served as a Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom Fellow, organizing alongside rural Black workers in the Mississippi Delta.

An Orangeburg, South Carolina native and graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, Aaron also serves on the South Carolina Civil Rights Museum Advisory Board. Across his work, he remains committed to help building lasting infrastructure and ensuring that communities most impacted by public policy have meaningful power in shaping it.
