Adrienne Simmons, PharmD, MS
Adrienne Simmons is a healthcare policy leader and pharmacist whose career reflects a deep commitment to advancing equitable access to care for people living with and at risk for HIV and other infectious diseases. She recently joined Gilead Sciences as Director of U.S. Policy Advocacy and Alliances, where she leads strategic partnerships with provider organizations to strengthen health policy, expand HIV prevention, and improve access to care nationwide. Based in Washington, D.C., she works at the intersection of clinical insight and advocacy, bringing the voice of patients and providers into policy conversations.
Dr. Simmons previously served as a Public Health Analyst at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau, where she supported delivery of HIV care and oversaw funding through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. Earlier, as Director of Programs at the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable, she championed initiatives to eliminate policy barriers to treatment and secured improved access to hepatitis C therapies for more than one million Medicaid beneficiaries.
Her pharmacy foundation includes clinical and administrative training at UNC Medical Center, where she completed a Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency. In that role, she focused on care transformation projects to streamline medication access and improve continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
A proud alumna of the University of Virginia and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy, Dr. Simmons combines her background as a practicing pharmacist with her expertise in policy and advocacy to drive meaningful change in public health. She is recognized as a dynamic leader whose work continues to shape healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
