Brandon R. Cahee

Brandon works at the National Education Association (NEA), the nation’s largest labor union representing over 3 million members.

He leads NEA’s African American outreach and engagement efforts, identifying and coordinating strategic partnerships that advance public education through a racial and social justice lens. He also builds and strengthens alliances with civil rights, labor, and community-based organizations serving historically marginalized communities.

Brandon is a licensed attorney and active member of the Maryland State Bar and Washington Bar Association (WBA), the oldest and largest voluntary bar association composed primarily of Black attorneys and judges in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. He recently served as Chair of the WBA Young Lawyers Division, where he led programming expanding professional development, networking, community engagement, and opportunities for emerging legal professionals. In recognition of his leadership and service, he received the Young Lawyers Division George E.C. Hayes Memorial Award in 2026, honoring work advancing justice, equality, civil rights, public service, and access to opportunity. He is also the recipient of the 2023 Ronald C. Jessamy Professionalism Award. For the 2026–2027 bar year, Brandon serves on the Board of Directors of the Washington Bar Association Educational Foundation.

Brandon also serves as Chair of the National Black Law Students Association’s (NBLSA) Alumni Advisory Committee, supporting the nation’s largest student-run nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the number of culturally responsible Black and minority attorneys who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact their communities. He was honored as NBLSA’s Alumnus of the Year in 2024.

Deeply committed to mentorship and community service, Brandon invests his time, experience, and resources in supporting students, young professionals, and emerging leaders. In 2025, he was inducted as a Role Model/Mentor into Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson’s 5,000 Role Models of Excellence Project, joining a distinguished network of leaders, including the Honorable Hakeem Jeffries. He was also named a Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Power 100 Honoree in 2025, recognizing his leadership and impact in advancing Black excellence and leadership.

A proud native of Houston, Texas, Brandon resides in the Washington, D.C., area. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Howard University.
