Corey Batson
Dr. Corey Batson isn’t just a physician — he’s a purpose-driven trailblazer transforming primary care in Nashville. As the founder and owner of Salient Health, a thriving private practice in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Dr. Batson is part of a small, elite group of African-American physicians in the region who both own and operate their own medical practices. His commitment to culturally competent, relationship-centered care is reshaping how healthcare is delivered — and who gets to lead it.
A proud graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana (B.S. in Chemistry) and Meharry Medical College (M.D.), Dr. Batson completed rigorous residency training in Family Medicine at Nashville General Hospital. Today, he serves as a practicing physician and clinical instructor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, bringing both expertise and heart to everything he does — from treating patients to mentoring future doctors.
His work has earned widespread recognition. In 2024, he was named Best Family Practice Physician in Goodlettsville by Business Rate. In 2025, he received the Community Impact Award from the Metro Public Health Department and was nominated for Nashville Men Who Rock, spotlighting his leadership across both health and community spaces.
Dr. Batson is a diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians and an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He also serves through 100 Black Men of America and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Beyond medicine, he enjoys travel, reading, and time with his children— living proof that legacy, wellness, and leadership can thrive together.
