Dr. Daneka Lucas, received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Hampton University. Upon graduation, she completed a one year Pharmacy Practice Residency at Howard University Hospital, where she conducted research on optimization of medication therapy in HIV patients.
She currently practices at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Pediatric Pharmacy where she works with the pediatric/neonatal population. She currently assists health care providers in providing the best medication therapy for their patients.
As part of her ongoing effort to give back to the community, Dr. Lucas has practiced at CMS Health Initiatives, a nonprofit organization dedicated to decreasing health disparities by utilizing clinical pharmacists in the underserved community in Washington, DC. For over 10 years she taught clients how to manage various disease states. As the Director of Programs, she assisted in developing and implementing several educational outreach programs on topics such as diabetes, HIV/AIDS , breast cancer, and provider training. All of these programs promoted health awareness in the DC community. She was also recognized for her community outreach and service within the pharmacy profession, with the Bowl of Hygeia Award in 2017.
Dr. Lucas is a member of the Washington DC Pharmacy Association (WDCPhA), where she served as Vice President from 2017-18. She is also a member of the National Pharmaceutical Association (NPhA) and serves as the 2025-26 Convention Planning Chair. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Secretary of the DC Pearls III Foundation. Her ongoing involvement in fundraising and advocacy efforts for Breast Cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Heart Disease reflects her unwavering dedication to public health, community service and commitment to the growth of the profession of pharmacy.
