Derrick Lewis II is a strategist, visionary, and community advocate dedicated to developing the next generation of Black leaders. He currently serves as the Interim National Director of the NAACP Youth & College Division, where he oversees the largest pipeline of young Black leadership in the United States. In just six years, Lewis has reactivated and chartered more than 400 youth units nationwide, strengthening the organization’s reach and amplifying the voices of thousands of young activists.

His leadership and advocacy have garnered national attention, with features on C-SPAN, CBS, and NPR, highlighting his role in shaping conversations around youth empowerment, racial justice, and civic engagement. His contributions have also been formally recognized with the proclamation of “Derrick Lewis II Day” in Austin, Texas, honoring his dedication to community leadership and grassroots organizing.

A proud Texan, Lewis is a graduate of Huston-Tillotson University and a devoted member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. His work reflects a deep commitment to building Black political power through youth leadership, policy advocacy, and direct action. Known for his energy, vision, and ability to mobilize young people, he is shaping the future of the civil rights movement by ensuring the next generation has the tools and platforms to lead.
