James C. Mattox, III
James C. Mattox, III, J.D., LL.M. brings both sharp legal expertise and genuine compassion to each client he serves. After earning his J.D. from Southern University Law Center in 2015, he pursued advanced study in health law, completing an LL.M. at the University of Houston College of Law in 2018. Prior to his current practice, he gained valuable experience clerking for the Honorable Harlin D. Hale in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas and interning with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries Legal Department.
Today, as Founding Partner at Mattox Law Firm PLLC in Houston, James specializes in personal injury law—championing clients in car wrecks, truck collisions, slip‑and‑fall incidents, and more. Licensed in Texas since approximately 2017, he is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. His peers have recognized his rising talent by naming him a “Rising Star” in Super Lawyers for 2022 through 2025.
Beyond his legal accomplishments, James is deeply invested in maintaining open, empathetic communication, understanding that injury cases are often emotionally taxing for clients. He is committed to keeping each client thoroughly informed and supported—earning praise for his responsiveness and client‑centered focus.
A proud undergraduate alumnus of Stephen F. Austin State University (B.A., 2012), he is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and professional organizations such as the State Bar of Texas, Houston Trial Lawyers Association, American Inns of Court, and Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
