Joseph Pierce

Joseph Pierce is a seasoned government relations and political professional with almost two decades worth of experience. Currently, he is director of government and external affairs for AmeriHealth Caritas in both their Pennsylvania and New Jersey markets. He previously served as the state director for U.S. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania after being his statewide political director on his campaign. Before that, he served as director of government relations and advocacy for the Pennsylvania-based nonprofit, Mental Health Partnerships. He was campaign manager for City Councilmember At-Large Derek Green’s successful bid for re-election in 2019 and U.S. Senator Bob Casey’s statewide political director during his successful re-election campaign in 2018. Joseph also has a long history of government relations within the labor movement having tenures with both AFSCME and SEIU 32BJ.

Before moving to Philadelphia over a decade ago, he was a staffer in the Florida Senate and worked on a gubernatorial race also in Florida. He possesses a bachelor’s in business administration and a master’s in public administration both from Florida A&M University and is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Joseph also serves on the Planned Parenthood Southeastern PA’s board of directors and the Vetri Community Partnership board of directors. He is a former president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the FAMU National Alumni Association and a current UPenn Fels Institute of Government Distinguished Fellow.
