Marissa King
Marissa King
Marissa King is a legislative and government relations professional, public policy strategist and community advocate whose work sits at the intersection of government, education, business and civic life. With nearly a decade of legislative experience, she currently serves as an Executive Legislative & Constituent Services Analyst for Tennessee State Representative Torrey C. Harris, helping translate community priorities and policy ideas into legislative action.
In her role with the Tennessee General Assembly, Marissa leads legislative research and strategy, supports the drafting and development of legislation, and manages the day-to-day work required to move policy through the legislative process. Her collaborative approach brings together policymakers, institutions, community leaders and residents to develop solutions responsive to the needs of Tennesseans. Beyond the State Capitol, she has built a reputation for convening communities, developing civic programming and advancing cultural initiatives that create space for people to transform their voices and ideas into action.
At the heart of Marissa’s work is a commitment to Black excellence, education, sustainability and the preservation of culture. Whether advising policymakers, engaging communities or building partnerships across sectors, she approaches leadership as an exercise in connection—bringing together people and ideas that might otherwise remain separate. That philosophy has shaped a career grounded in the belief that lasting progress is strongest when institutions and everyday people have a meaningful role in creating it.
