Mikecia W.
Mikecia Witherspoon is an accomplished government relations professional with more than a decade of experience building strategic partnerships across federal, state, and local government, higher education, and nonprofit organizations. A native Philadelphian, she has dedicated her career to advancing policies and initiatives that make government more accessible and impactful for communities.
She currently serves as Eastern Regional Director for Senator John Fetterman where she represents the Senator across 20 counties in the eastern region of Pennsylvania. In this role, she helps municipalities and nonprofits navigate federal processes and bureaucracy and represents the Senator at key events and convenings. Her work requires not only policy expertise but also diplomacy, strategic communication, and an extraordinary ability to bring diverse stakeholders together.
Previously, Mikecia was Government Relations Officer at the Community College of Philadelphia, reporting directly to the President. There, she led the College’s legislative strategy, monitored and analyzed public policy developments, and collaborated with stakeholders to advance the institution’s mission. Her work ensured that the College’s priorities were effectively communicated and championed at every level of government.
Earlier in her career, she served in the Mayor’s Office of Philadelphia, first as Special Assistant and later as Deputy Chief of Staff, where she managed relationships with state legislators, coordinated advocacy on city priorities, and provided high-level strategic support to the mayor.
She is a proud graduate of Bryn Mawr College, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science, and of the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government, where she received her MPA.
Driven by the belief that “all politics is local” and that government should be accessible to all, Mikecia continues to champion inclusive, community-focused engagement in every role she takes on.
