Nancy Maurice

Nancy Maurice is an award-winning international lawyer and nationally recognized bar leader. A Senior Associate at The Nilson Law Group, PLLC in New York, she serves as a trusted advisor to European and Canadian companies, mainly French-speaking, building and running their U.S. operations. She guides clients through cross-border M&A, complex international projects, contract negotiations, and U.S. employment matters. As a multilingual immigrant herself, she also helps them navigate the cultural leap to doing business in America.

Nancy was elected Chair-Elect of the ABA Young Lawyers Division and will serve as Chair for the 2027–2028 term. A former ABA Business Law Fellow and current Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, she received the ABA YLD’s On The Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers Award and was named a National Bar Association Power 100 honoree.

As a bar leader and community builder, Nancy leads with passion, intention, and resilience. Named the ABA YLD’s Star of the Year for 2026 as the architect of its strategic plan, she brings strength in project management and mission-driven initiatives. A regular speaker and program curator, she designs programming on first-generation experiences, diversity, and well-being in the legal profession. She advocated for the creation of First Generation Lawyers Day and, as co-Chair of the First Gen initiative — itself honored with the ABA’s Spirit of Excellence Award — grew it into a national landmark, including the inaugural FirstGen Summit in Houston, TX. First-generation and committed to paying it forward, Nancy works to widen the legal pipeline for diverse students.

Born and raised in France with roots in Martinique and Guadeloupe, Nancy earned an LLB from the University of Essex (England), Master’s degrees from the Université Paris-Nanterre La Défense (France), and an LLM from Louisiana State University — giving her a bijural perspective across the civil and common law traditions.
