Quiana-Joy Ochiagha
Quiana-Joy Ochiagha is Assistant General Counsel at the NAACP, where she applies her legal expertise to corporate governance and civil rights litigation. In this role, she advocates for voting rights, redistricting, and other critical issues while advancing the Association’s mission to fight systemic inequality and protect marginalized communities.
Previously, Quiana-Joy clerked for Chief Judge Milton C. Lee, Jr. of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, gaining invaluable experience in judicial decision-making, legal research, and writing.
She earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the Southern University Law Center in 2022, where she received the Creating a More Respectful World award and published in the Southern University Law Review. Her article, “We Shall Overcome Some Day…But Not Today,” examined modern voting rights challenges in the context of historical racial discrimination. During law school, she also served as a Kellogg’s Law Fellow at the NAACP.
Before law school, Quiana-Joy earned a B.A. in English from the University at Buffalo and an M.A. in English from Buffalo State College.
Active in the legal community, she serves on the Board of the Washington Bar Association and previously was Vice Chair of its Young Lawyers Division, promoting diversity, inclusion, and professional development among emerging attorneys.
With a steadfast commitment to justice, Quiana-Joy Ochiagha continues to use her legal expertise to advocate for systemic change and a more inclusive society.
