Quiana-Joy Ochiagha

Quiana-Joy Ochiagha serves as Assistant General Counsel at the NAACP. In this role, she plays a central role working on voting rights, redistricting, and other civil rights issues while managing corporate governance matters for the Association. Quiana-Joy’s work is essential to advancing the Association’s mission of fighting systemic inequality and safeguarding marginalized communities.

Before joining the NAACP, Quiana-Joy served as a Judicial Law Clerk to Chief Judge Milton C. Lee, Jr. of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, gaining invaluable insight into judicial decision-making while strengthening her legal research and writing.

Quiana-Joy earned her law degree from the Southern University Law Center, graduating magna cum laude in May 2022. Her scholarly contributions include a notable publication in the Southern University Law Review, where her article titled “We Shall Overcome Some Day…But Not Today: Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee and the 21st Century Version of Jim Crow” explored the intersection of modern voting rights challenges and historical racial discrimination.

Before entering law school, Quiana-Joy earned a B.A. in English from the University at Buffalo and a M.A. in English from Buffalo State College.

In 2026, Quiana-Joy was named one of the National Bar Association’s (“NBA”) Top 40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocates. In addition to this honor, she was selected as a Top 5 Award recipient for Excellence in Activism, recognizing her outstanding commitment to advocacy and community engagement.

Beyond her professional work, Quiana-Joy serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the 84th President of the NBA, Region XII Director of the NBA, and the Vice President of the Washington Bar Association, Inc. She is a proud and active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
