Renee Mims
Renee’s work involves matters relating to criminal law, legislation, public health matters, and more. Renee’s career experience includes working as judicial law clerk and practicing family law and domestic violence law where she advised and represented survivors of domestic violence.
No stranger to service and leadership, Renee’s leadership roles include Past President of the Greater Washington Area Chapter, Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association (GWAC) following her service as President-Elect, Historian, Law Student Affairs Chair, and Program Planning Chair. Renee most recently served as Chair of GWAC’s charitable arm, the GWAC Foundation, Inc. which provides book and bar scholarships to law school students and graduates, and sponsors law students through its Legal Internship Placement Program (L.I.P.P.) to provide paid internships on Capitol Hill. She’s also a Board Member of the Washington Bar Association and past NBA Regional Director.
To name a few of Renee’s achievements, she received the National Bar Association’s 40 Under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates Award; GWAC Bar Association’s Rising Star Award; the NBA Women Lawyers Division’s Outstanding Young Woman Lawyer Award; and was chosen as an Inaugural Lawyer Mentor for the yearlong Bridge Builders Esq. National Mentorship Program for Aspiring Black Lawyers.
Renee earned her B.A. from Howard University and her J.D. from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law. Renee welcomes opportunities to serve and support when, where, and how she can.
