Sonia Bennett

Sonia is a New York-based senior associate at Linklaters LLP in the firm’s Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits practice. Sonia focuses her practice on complex executive compensation and employee benefits matters in public and private mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and other complex corporate matters. Sonia advises on transactional documents and issues under the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, applicable employment and labor laws and stock exchange rules. Additionally, Sonia counsels public companies on executive compensation and employee benefits disclosures in proxy statements and other SEC filings, including executive compensation tables and related narrative disclosures.

Sonia is the go-to associate for ERISA-related transactional matters. She regularly advises clients on ERISA considerations relating to the structuring and offering of investment products and services, including in connection with collateralized loan obligation transactions.

Sonia rmaintains an active pro bono practice. Sonia provides employment law support to non-profit organizations, including drafting employment and independent contractor agreements, and assists with asylum matters. In 2026, Lawyers Alliance for New York recognized Sonia for her significant commitment to pro bono service.

Sonia is an active member of Albany Law School’s Women Leadership Initiative, which advances women in the legal profession through mentorship, leadership development, and professional networking. Sonia also actively participates in Albany Law School-sponsored panels, providing career guidance and mentorship to law students. Beyond those formal roles, Sonia mentors prospective and current law students as they prepare for and navigate law school and the legal profession.

Before joining Linklaters, Sonia worked in the Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits practice in the New York office of another leading international law firm.
