Veta Richardson
Veta T. Richardson’s work focuses on corporate governance, leadership and advancing the role of in-house counsel in business. She most recently served as President and CEO of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), where she spent more than a decade leading the global organization representing corporate legal professionals. During her tenure, Veta expanded ACC’s international reach, membership and advocacy efforts while championing the importance of general counsel having a meaningful voice in executive leadership and corporate strategy.
Prior to joining ACC, Veta served as Executive Director of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, where she led efforts to expand opportunities within the legal profession. Earlier in her career, she practiced as in-house counsel with Sunoco in Philadelphia, gaining experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities disclosure, investor communications and corporate governance. Her leadership has earned numerous honors, including being named four times to the NACD Directorship 100 and receiving the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s Allies for Justice Award. In 2025, she was recognized with an In-House Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women, Influence & Power in Law Awards.
Beyond her executive leadership, Veta is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center and the author of Take Six: Essential Habits to Own Your Destiny, Overcome Challenges, and Unlock Opportunities. Mentorship has remained an important part of her career, and her book draws upon lessons from her own professional journey to help others develop as leaders.
A Philadelphia native, Veta earned both her B.S. in Business Management and J.D. from the University of Maryland.
