William Smith

William Smith is the Founder and CEO of Fed Legacy, a financial services firm dedicated to empowering federal employees to retire with confidence and build lasting generational wealth. Since 2009, William and his team have guided more than 10,000 federal employees toward financial security, with a focus on helping minority families who have historically lacked access to financial education and resources. His philosophy is simple: every family should walk away with greater knowledge, stronger finances, and a mission to expand their impact for generations to come.

From 2016 to 2023, William served on the Executive Board of the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce, where he helped transform the Chamber from a startup into a staffed, statewide institution. During his tenure, he hosted two Governor’s Forums, developed Minority Business Enterprise programming that connected Black-owned businesses with state contracting opportunities, and mentored entrepreneurs across Maryland, leaving a lasting imprint on the state’s business community.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, William was active in the Black Business Association and remains deeply connected to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He is also a proud member of the U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce, Advisors Excel, and the Conscious Leadership Group.

Beyond business, William is committed to mentorship and service, actively engaging with Mastermind Connect and supporting small business owners. He treasures traveling with his fiancée, Simone, and daughter, Faybiene. For William, legacy is not only financial, it is about empowering families and communities to expand their impact.
